It's obvious that hip-hop has finally come into its own when one of its most respected rappers (among all kinds of fans) is also one of its best-selling artists, and a successful crossover act to rock fans as well. DMX built himself an excellent reputation in the rap game, working the fragile territory between intense, metaphysical lyrical concerns and his image as a canine-obsessed personality who often uses a backing track to bark assent to his own raps. All this from a tremendously successful chart act, whose first three albums debuted at number one and sold well over ten million records in just a year and a half. With Nas and Jay-Z (both of whom also made it on an artistic and commercial level), DMX is the kingpin of hip-hop in the years after the twin giants, Biggie and 2Pac, were gunned down.
A rough-toned Yonkers MC who debuted with hometown friends the Lox on a DJ Clue mix-tape, DMX hit the big time in early 1998 when his single "Get at Me Dog" became a club and radio smash. The rapper had first appeared seven years earlier however, in an "Unsigned Hype" column by The Source back in 1991. He was signed to Columbia a few years later, but the deal fell through before recording had even begun. DMX guested on tracks by LL Cool J, Mase and Mic Geronimo (among others), then signed to Def Jam in 1997. His debut album It's Dark and Hell Is Hot debuted at number one in May 1998, and eventually sold platinum four times over. Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood followed just six months later (also debuting at the top), and in late 1999 DMX returned with ...And Then There Was X. Once again, he entered the charts at number one. -- John Bush, All Music Guide

(SEPTEMBER 20, 2000) 1. DMX has signed a deal to make an autobiography, tentively titled "DMX: A Dogz Life". X will team with Smokey D. Fontaine to write about DMX's rise from the projects of Yonkers to his large rapper status he has now. The book is also expected to include prayers X says and random passages taken from his notebook.
2. People are saying that The Lox are dissing Black Rob on their new song off the Backstage Mixtape. Apparently Sheek targeted Black Rob on a few of the songs lines; "You say fuck me, I feel the same way about you bitch, niggaz made you rich and now you act like this." Sheek follows up with "You want space I'll give you a whole hospital room to yourself." That one sounds more like a shot at Black Rob, as Rob's single "Espacio" has him saying "give me space" in Spanish. Not really sure why the two are beefin' but it's well-known that Bad Boy and The Lox have beef. I thought Black Rob and the L-O-X were still cool since they used to record lots of songs together but apparently not. Props to Big D for the news.
(JUNE 18, 2000)
X will be in that new Steven Seagal movie, but he'll also have roles in "Blade 2" and the next "The Crow" movie. Look for X to be busy with movies this summer, I heard he won't even come in for big shows like New York and LA Summer Jam's sponsered by radio stations.
(MAY 23, 2000)
X will team up with Sisqo for the next video from "And Then There Was...X". For the edited version of What "These Bitches Want". It will be called "What Ya Want". The shoot will most likely take place on June 10, 2000. I bed this is a nice video, but i kinda wanted to see D-X-L with my mans LOX and Drag.

DMX Teams with Steven Seagal
DMX has been added to the cast of the upcoming film "Exit Wounds". The movie will star Steven Seagal. The film's plot is based around a cop played by Seagal, who discovers a ring of corrupt officers in his precinct. Seagal goes to war against them and will be aided by DMX. No news of when the movie will come out, but I'll let you know as soon as I find out.
(MAY 3, 2000)
DMX was sentenced to 15 days in jail and slapped with a fine, plus in court fees today (May 3) in a Cheektowaga, N.Y., court after turning himself in to police on an outstanding arrest warrant issued after the rapper skipped a March 23 court date while out on the Ruff Ryders/Cash Money tour.
Simmons, who pleaded guilty to charges of drug possession, driving without a license, and outstanding parking tickets, was later rearrested, charged with possession and fined another after police found marijuana in a cigarette pack while he was being processed. Lawyers for the rapper are appealing the sentence and attempting to have him released pending the outcome of the appeal. The original charges stem from a March 3 traffic stop, following a concert appearance in nearby Buffalo, N.Y., for failure to signal and speeding. Police discovered Simmons was driving without a license, and also found a small amount of marijuana upon searching his vehicle.
(MARCH 7, 2000)
Well X got arrested for driving without a licence and marijuana posession when he was in Cheektowaga, New York. He was stopped on Kensington Expressway for driving 60 in a 45 mph zone. He didn't have a license, because it has been suspended because he didn't have car insurance. The cops also found some weed in his car. X was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, driving without a license, speeding, failure to signal, unlawful marijuana possession and failure to notify DMV of an address change. He got out on bail for ,000 the same day he was arrested and a court date was set for March 21.
(FEBRUARY 08, 2000)
Yo X is gonna be on Saturday Night Live tommorow night. Make sure you tape that if you not home.
(JANUARY 14, 2000)
The Ruff Ryders / Cash Money Tour 2000 has been pushed back to the starting date of February 24, 2000 in Rochester, NY and is expected to end on April 10, 2000 in Seattle. Scheduling issues are beleived to be teh cause for the move, though the labels didn't offer a reason for the delay.

One-n-One
DECEMBER 17, 1999
In the new BLAZE issue there s a story about "Calling Out Names - Kurupt" and its a whole page. Kurupt talks about why he made the song. And X also comments that he doesn't even know why the song was made. Really stupid by Kurupt, he thinks that X fucked Foxy when Kurupt was going out with her.
DECEMBER 1, 1999
Guess Kurupt is not calling out names after all (cuz he a homo), he did not put the song on his album (cuz he a homo)and is gonna meet up with X to discuss their differences. What A HOMO!!! He know that X would really kill him lyrically and physically, so he backed down. Thanx to 711 Hip Hop for the above news, tehy are a site thats jsut starting up, tons of news, my boy "s7n" is running that shit (whut up BIATCHHHH!!!) so go to it and show him some love.
